Hi. I am an Aspie who's new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has a tendency to frustrate easily such as I do when working on something that you can't seem to perfect so soon. I have ventured with different interests in the past, but often I didn't stick with them and then wound up abandoning them because they didn't come natural to me. Does anyone else find it hard to stick with something you get involved with? Are you impatient because you are eager to perfect something so quickly?

I've had serious problem with intense frustration since childhood. Feels like an electric storm in my head; I then have a tendency to hit myself (not to the point of injury, but definitely to the point of noticeable pain).

This seems to be a common trait among aspies.

As for the impatience and losing interest, ditto... I tend to more than make up for it by being pretty bright, and learning very fast, but I get bored just as fast, and I tend to need two or three primary interests or tasks, and switch fast from one to the other as I get bored. That's the only way I know of managing to get things done.

I've witnessed that behavior, and yes easily frustrated. If there was one thing I wish was missing from AS, it's that.

Although I don't show it, I'm actually very easily frustrated when it comes to just about anything.

I also find it hard to stick with things that are outside my biggest obsessions.

Yes, and I give up easily if something doesn't come naturally. I still am surprised that there are people who work hard to be good at something or understanding something (I guess this is normal, but it surprises me nevertheless...). Either I understand something, or I don't. The things I'm good at or understand well, I've never had to work very hard to achieve.

As far as interpersonal (social) patience and frustration, this tends to hinge on how tired I am. The more tired, the shorter my fuse.

Yes, especially when I put 110% effort into something and it still ends up not being good enough.

people with AS tend to be distracted easily by 2 main things, noise.....and their own thoughts.
their own thoughts.
combine this with a sense of perfectionism and easily overwhelemed by too much information then frustration is not only a common feature of AS existence, but it is unusual not to experience it daily.
how do i limit this sense?
i do try to be more reflective, more self aware and live by the mantra........you cant help wha happens to you, you can help how you respond to it.

I think this means the perception of one's own body.

Proprio (proprius) = Latin for one's own

Receptive (recipio) = Latin for receiving

Frequently, yes, although I have learned to dampen the reaction some... *shrug* But yes, am frequently frustrated.
