The child may have Childhood Onset Schizophrenia (COS), but it is a very rare condition (ca. 1 in 40,000). Children with COS often have significant social difficulties, they maybe misdiagnosed with autism/asperger's as a result. The fact that he has an abnormal EEG points to this conclusion.

On the other hand, this maybe a case of
Folie à Deux, whereby a mentally ill person who is in a close relationship with someone else (mother and son in this case) has "infected" a sane person (her son) with a delusion i.e. an induced delusional disorder - a belief in UFOs, alien abduction and mind control.
