Re: Come to think of it, I make many lady friends too (Score: 1) by Pandora Thursday, October 25 @ 06:51:47 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | | There's no easy way to romance but there are certainly some things that most women find passion killers eg. body odour, bad breath, dirty habits such as nose picking in front of us, going on and on about boring subjects (a bit hard for aspies as we are known for perseverating), having no sense of humour, being stodgy.
Also, if you want to meet aspie females, we don't necessarily care all that much about romance, wining and dining - all that kind of stuff. We tend to be more practical and down-to-earth than that.
I found the example in Groovy Druid's article about Megan rather unrealistic.
Firstly, it is NOT safe for any woman to go to a nightclub on their own. Most aspie women would find the prospect of going there even with another person just about as appealing as getting three root canal fillings in an afternoon!
Also, if she did all this flirty and hip wiggling, wouldn't that mean she was acting like a tart. I don't think too many of us aspie women would feel at all right about acting like that.
It would be more practical to go back to the basics of initiating conversations and keeping them going.
I'd also suggest that the song by Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is a good one to remember. I don't mean this in the bad sense but in the sense that girls generally like men who can make them laugh and who don't come across as being boring and stodgy. |
