Damn right you're not an expert in autism. There are far more HFAs and Aspies than profoundly retarded autistics. And please, I am so sick of the vaccines are the cause of autism thing. I showed signs of autism far before I was vaccinated for anything.

You are rife with the common misconceptions. Many, many many of us are perfectly functional, just sensorially bombarded and societally misunderstood. Maybe I have some underlying movement and coordination issues, sure- it took me longer than average to learn to drive manual, and I never was very good in dance class, but before the days of common diagnosis, I was just generally seen as "really weird" and nothing more. I think you would (you ought to!) be surprised at how many people on the spectrum are not like whomever you've been meeting. Also, your ideas of "curing" could be seen as pretty darn offensive, honestly. I just got into grad school and would never want to be NT.
