Of course, it would not go down as genocide. By distorting and blurring the terms, twisting and skewing the perceptions to their purposes, it can basically happen. They do not see autism as apart of who we are, they see it as something seperate. In this bollocks age of political correctness and even well intended incinserities, the term is "persons with autism" or "persons with aspergers syndrome". The idea is that if they were to eliminate autism, it would not be genocide, as you would still have the "person". It would instead be getting rid of disabling and crippling qualities so that the person can have a satisfying life. Though keep in mind, a "satisfying life" is a relative concept. They seem to believe otherwise. The first goal for our success is to establish that autism is apart of who we are, and that we are proud of it. Once we cement into society that we are autistic people just as gays and lesbians are gays and lesbians, or as African Americans are African Americans, we undo the distortion. "I am aspergian, and I have inside me the blood of kings. I have no rival, no man can be my equal. Take me to the future of your world." The second goal is to convince scientists to rethink the way they approach autism. They approach the study of our people with the idea that there is something wrong, broken in hopes of finding out about us. This egotisical and neurocentric attitude has prevented them from making any real progress besides theories about aliens, vaccinations, and genetics. This lack of progress has led to further frustration, since parents know nothing more about what exactly their children are beyond "disabled". This has only brought about further pressure for the cure. I bet you that if scientists fully understood why we do what we do, there would be a lesser demand for a cure. Keep in mind folks, the only form of superiority that neurotypicals have is their numbers... nothing more. Beyond that, it is merely neurological imperialism fueled by a neurocentric view, no different than what the WASP has done to so many other groups for ages with theocentric and ethnocentric views. Using the knowledge of past struggles of the surpressed, we can find the answers to bring home a victory for us, those who are not apart of the mainstream, and to the individual in general. More on this later.
