"It's a lack of skills, or a lack of desire." It's not that simple. They are only two extremes, and there's a whole spectum in the middle that hasn't been included. For example, I find that sometimes I do completely lack the desire for social company, but at other times I feel a desperate need to be around other people. I think only very few aspies would really be happy being a total social recluse, because everyone needs some human relationships to lead a fufilled life. The main problem is fufilling the need for large amounts of recluse time without totally destroying the possibility of any social time. That's probably a good reason why so many aspies are depressed, because it's hard to maintain any sort of social life when you're so often in recluse mode and when you come out of that at times the loneliness is really strong.
