My mom and I took the two hour drive to go and visit my grandma in the nursing home. She needs a lot of care and so she is in a nursing home.

My mom and I dread the trip, not because we dont want to see her, but because its difficult for us to see her in such bad shape. The facility is just that a facility and it smells and its depressing.

We do our best to lift my grandmas spirit while we are there, bringing her favorite candy and making sure she has what she needs.

This is how sweet my son is, (age 9) he didnt see what we saw. He looked at the list of activities on her door and said, "Grandma, you have bingo here isnt that exciting. I want to play." He said, "look at all these activities. I want to come back and do them with you."

Then he told my mom. I wish I could live here. Three meals, activities, bingo, tv in your room, this place is great. Grandma I am coming everyday to visit.

My son has a full life with more than three meals, lots of activities and several tv's in our home. Yet, he wanted to make sure his grandma knew how much she had and how great he thought it was. I thought it was so sweet.

I think it really bothered him when my mom and I had to explain to him that we couldnt come that often to visit grandma, because she lived so far away. he really wanted to see her everyday.

he didnt see the sadness of her situation only the positive. He is so awesome. I hope he stays that way.
