Theatre and Senior Year 03-22-2009 05:34 pm musicislife's Blog
So, this is my final year of high school and it has been amazing so far.
Last night was closing night for my last musical at my school. The show went off without a single mistake for cast, stage crew or pit orchestra. Anyway, before the last show all of the seniors get in this massive group and each person tells a story. All of the stories end with everyone screaming "rip s**t up!" at the top of our lungs. Most guys in the circle tell stories about taking a crap, while the girls tell mushy stories about getting into the Players(the name of our Drama Club) or what the Players mean to us.
For years I have watched and listened to the Senior Players tell their stories and have wanted to join in. This year may be the last time I will ever see many of the Class of 2009 Players. My own story was not about taking a crap(though there were a few good ones), but about the Players.
"I joined the Players on Stage Crew in sophomore year. That first year I listened to the stories and watched on, wondering why the seniors did this crazy circle. Now I know. It's because the Players are a family of their own. My life before I joined the Players was crap and I am thoroughly convinced that you guys saved my life. In memory of that, let's go out there and...RIP S**T UP!"
I was stupid, at the beginning of the show, last weekend, I promised myself that I would not cry until the end of the last show....didn't happen. By the end of the circle, I was bawling my eyes out...and I cried again at the end of the show.
If anyone is reading this, thank you, if not, oh well....but anyway, Thank You, Class of 2009 Players
