Who I am.
posted at 06:09 pm on 03-19-2008

I'm an autistic adult (PDD NOS), diagnosed at age 6. My first diagnosis was severe mental retardation and for my parents not to expect me to make it to high school.

Well not only did I graduate regular high school, I made top 10% and on the honor roll. In addition I took almost two years of study in an art college. Take that to NT's who didn't think I could make it! It shows what can be done with the right support and the courage to fight for ones' rights.

One of my objectives, besides my fantasy world with my insect like creatures, is to help NT's understand autism. I mean not as some disease, not as something to be pitied, but what it really is.

Let's just face it... if people go by thesis papers written by aspiring medical students, likely they are not going to get a good view of the big picture. Same with doctor reports, etc.

There's a difference between studying Europe and actually being there, for example.

Sometimes I feel I have to be a light shining in a dark place. Some day I hope that together we can help bring change.
