Regrettably I can not think of any hyperhumorous remark with which to commence my blogging, and I will not bore you with the David Copperfield stuff about my childhood. I can not say that my childhood was the best or the worst that is possible, but please do not bother ever to invite me to a school reunion.
Since I was young I have understood that I am different to the majority of the general population. I have gone through much of my life on my own longing for two related things, firstly contact with my own kind and secondly an understanding of who and what I am. For the former the latter is also required, as to knowingly make contact with your own kind a need exists to know who & what they are and how to recognise them.
The problem of recognising my fellow aspies is compounded by the fact that a large number of aspies are either undiagnosed and unaware of their AS or are cryptoaspies or stealth aspies. Some years ago my wife commented that she thought that it was very likely that I has AS, at first I refused to accept the idea. However after a few glitches in the mind which stopped me acting like a “normal” strongly offended my wife, I started to reflect and consider who and what I am again.
One question which continues to trouble me is “what is normal”, I think that I can feel a long blog on that topic coming together.
Initially I resisted the temptation to read about the condition, and I took several of the “multiple choice” Aspie exams and I tended to pass with flying colours as an aspie. After having taken the “exams”, I started to explore the condition by reading about it. I stumbled upon the wrong planet shortly after I started to reflect seriously about my mind. My biggest regret was that I had not arrived at an earlier date.
What I have noticed is that while aspies are all the same, they are also all different. While we have some things in common, such as the aspie way of eating and walking, we are all different in many ways. I will try to write some more to let my readers know something of what is on my mind.
