Who am I?
posted at 12:32 pm on 02-27-2008

I am a survivor of psychiatric abuse and advocate against psychiatry. At age six, a doctor suggested that I might be Autistic, but my advanced language skills were seen as contradicting this label. This was before the popularization of Asperger's. My parents preferred the ADHD label. I was given many drugs and many labels over the next decade, until I finally freed myself by running away from home as a teen. I cofounded a website http://www.againstpsychiatry.com with another young psychiatric abuse survivor who was recently happily relabeled as Asperger's. I could probably get this label if I wanted to pursue it, but am not a fan of labels, and don't see how it could benefit me. Nonetheless, I want to connect with more people who identify with this label. This is for two reasons that I am aware of;

Reason 1. to hopefully find some more folks who are interested in researching, exposing, and fighting the psychiatric abuse of children.
Reason 2. to hopefully find some folks whose social skills were formerly as bad as mine currently are, but who have since discovered the key to good social interaction, and have them explain it to me in a way that I will understand.
