I was watching the news last night and this story came up that just shocked me. It was about this one woman who was deliberately hit by her ex-boyfriend, and her insurance company (Farmer's Insurance) won't cover her after being in medical care for a huge chunk of time because they say that it wasn't technically an accident; that someone deliberately tried to kill her. If you want more details you should read the story at the link below, but isn't it awful that they done this to her? It's rather stupid, since she paid for her insurance to cover her in a medical emergency. Anyways, here's the link to the story:

Thats corporations for you (move on if you don't want to hear me drone on about my hobbyhorse!!!!!!!! Wink ). They take your money and don't deliver the goods.

We have a nationalised healthcare system in the UK, so you don't need insurance - its all as free as the air you breathe. Just think, state of the art medicine, for absolutely nothing!! We are just lucky over here!!! Wink

Cases of MRSA are over-exagarated, Ascan. It is simply a Tory plot to destabilise the NHS, so they can sell it off to the private sector through the back door.

No it's fact. Two of my relatives have visited hospital recently, both got MRSA infections, one C. difficile, too. The hospitals are filthy and disorganised; the managers in charge are obsessed with meeting Blair's targets at the expense of the patients health. The situation is disgusting.

My experience of the NHS is that for years I had a problem, and none of the GPs would take it seriously. When I finally paid to see a specialist privately, he said with the symptoms I should have been in hospital for tests two years previously.

Doesn't inspire confidence.

The NHS is a grossly mismanaged postcode lottery. There must be a better way to sort it out than the current attempts to flog it off piecemeal, but I'm buggered if I know what it is. Confused
