I was a graphic designer. I'm currently unemployed because I don't want to do graphic design anymore, but I don't know what I do want to do.

I do child support enforcement for a state agency. I fix interstate cases that are malfunctioning, and never talk to anyone except people in other states who do what I do.

I also do some work in the office from time to time as a locator, looking for people who should and don't pay their child support.

I'm an engineer. I guess I'm lucky since I'm working with vehicles and enjoy reading service manuals. I have had other engineers ask me why I was so posessed by my work. I just told them I like this suff. I could not imagine doing anything else.

This is an interesting topic.

I just take any kind of employment that supports my children and myself, but my luck ran out this year. I have been six weeks without a job. Many interviews in the line of work I do (service, janitorial, manufacturing) but I worry that it is my age, uncoordination and possibly how I appear to others that is preventing me from being hired.

Still, I keep trying.

I honestly feel that I have been a failure in the workplace. I am going to ensure my son doesn't end up that way.

The grandmother of my son's friend (this is the only way you get work in Melbourne.....it's WHO you know, not WHAT you know, at times LOL) has asked that I work for her part-time as her office manager/exhibition orgnaniser. She's a well-known botanical artist in Australia and Europe, and needs someone who's crap at art (pick me!...oooh...pick me!) to keep her business running as the person she's had for years is too good at art and now wants to pursue her own art career. Laughing

It'll suit me fine....no bloody corporate crap with which to deal.

Oh - and I'm getting back into editing so I can work from home.....I'm qualified and experienced, but terrible at working in publishing houses. Can't do that political-thing at work.....you know....?

Man, I've talked too much, huh.

Fiona

I get to prep toppings, make pizzas, and yell at my teenaged co-workers all day. Rolling Eyes
