Special Schools to help treat autism
Monarch School
Located: On Fairmount Boulevard, Shaker Heights (part of Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau)
Opened: 2000. A new school building opened in 2006.
Serves: Ages 6-22. Also has preschool for ages 3-6.
Enrollment: 60
Tuition: $68,500 per year. About 90 percent of school-age students have tuition fully paid for by their home school district or get assistance from state vouchers.
Lerner School at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism
Located: On Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Cleveland.
Opened: 2000
Serves: Ages 5-22. Roughly half of the children are high school age. The center also has separate early childhood and preschool services.
Enrollment: 80
Tuition: $65,000 per year. About 80 percent of school-age students have tuition fully paid for by their home school districts or get assistance from state vouchers.
