Hmm, I guess he wouldn't have to be bald for this to work . . .

Okay, so this pic is big enough to be turned into a shrine with incense and candles, but we'll handle that issue another day . . .

I think it works, and I've never had experience with his clinical techniques. From what I read though, he seems like a pretty cool guy. ^__^=

Does that make us the A-Men?

'Cause if I've got to go put on a spandex jumpsuit, I'm going to have to hit the gym for a couple years first...

Doesn't Tony Attwood want to cure us?

I've heard he's nice enough, but I've also heard his science can be way off.

If you listen to the radio interview, he is saying that we should be encouraged (as the geniuses that we are Very Happy), rather than be picked on for our quirks.

Plus, he would like to see a world where we are not subject to sensory onslaughts all of the time.

Interview link is at the bottom of the page:

He gets my vote, one of the only non-asperger professionals that really seems to get it.

Now come on we all are not going to agree with his every word, but feel he has helped make a huge difference to people on the spectrum...

Some of his Quotes:
Quotes: " From my clinical experience I consider that children and adults with Aspergers Syndrome have a different, not defective, way of thinking." Tony Attwood

Quote "The person usually has a strong desire to seek knowledge, truth and perfection with a different set of priorities than would be expected with other people. There is also a different perception of situations and sensory experiences. The overriding priority may be to solve a problem rather than satisfy the social or emotional needs of others." - Tony Attwood.

Tony Attwood: "I think the main advances have come not from the research literature but from conversations and discussions with those who have Asperger’s syndrome, by reading not the scientific textbooks but their autobiographies. My greatest knowledge of Asperger’s has come from those who have it. Other great advances are the recognition of the challenges they face, and some way of helping them to cope. What may also be occurring is a change in attitude towards these attitudes and, I hope, a greater emphasis on their talents rather than their deficits.".

The X-Men were named not for their founder "Charles Xavier" but for the X-factor in their genetic code that makes them different from the rest of humanity.

So we would still just be "X-Men" even if Tony Attwood was our Professor X

Of course not, Ana54. He just teaches us how to live our lives easier.

Interesting analygy but as he is one of the formost scholars on Asperger's Syndrome today it works.
Ana54 nothing I've read indicated he was pro-cure, some of his article seem to be against a cure and more focused on adjustment to the would.
Anbuened from the articles I've read by Attwood appear to be pretty accurate and quite good.
