How 'Second Life' therapy helps Asperger's patients
Have you ever been to Second Life?
It's an online world where people meet, date, conduct business and travel with virtual identities and pseudonyms.

I like learning to move my body on second life though it can be frustrating. I especially like the little dance moves you can click on and make your avatar move so gracefully! And fly! you can fly! you can go aloft and observe where you are!
second life is fun, if not bewildering, sometimes but it is pretty user friendly. I havent figured out the social thing, but hey, what's new?
I do find it hilarious when you type to someone it mimes typing on an invisible keyboard. That is just a crack up!

Thanks for posting the article. I've been thinking about upgrading my computer so I can play Second Life to improve my social skills. |

I liked the flying too, but unfortunately our computer, or graphics card, or something, ( not internet connection tho; we have good one) meant it kept jamming. I didn't even get out of training because it was too frustrating; I kept ending up under water, or flying so high lost sight of land etc, so gave up, but yes, like you Zendell, think about upgrading so can do it. It seemed serious fun!!

| I don't know why, but those types of websites (as well as IMing or texting) always seem to freak me out. However, I am excellent when it comes to person-to-person conversations and talking on the phone. Weird... |

I am on SL a lot spend most of my time there. I dont think it helps me learn anything socially and hasnt changed anything.
I have been playing it for over a year and know aspie groups, meetings, places where aspies hang out so send me a PM or leave a message here with your SL name and I can contact you in world if you dont know how to do anything.
I can teach to build/script too or help find places to get free clothes, hair, shapes and skins. |
