Grrrr... I have a bit of a problem.

As a Psych major and as someone who is wanting to go into Experimental Psychology, I am required to take Introduction to Measurement and Statistics. This I have no problem with. I know it's a lot of math and it probably won't be my best class but, hey, I want to learn this stuff.

Unfortunately, there's a new professor in town. She's fresh out of graduate school and so the skinny goes, a horrible professor. And I think there's two other professors who teach Statistics, one of them being my own advisor. But the other one it seems will only be teaching the 8 week night classes where there's a lot less information-- information which I will need in order to go onto the higher-level Stats class. I don't know when my advisor will be teaching Statistics again. I am hoping to God in the fall.

But this spring semester, I had intended on taking Statistics until I found out that the new professor is the only one teaching the full class. My advisor was fairly adamant I take it this next semester and I then expressed my worry and what I'd heard about the new teacher and he scoffed it off saying the student who told me was a poor student and therefore I couldn't believe her.

But, alas, I've heard the same thing from another student-- a student whom I know is quite a good Psychology student. And she warned me not to take the Statistics class from the new professor.

Well, sign-up for classes begins tomorrow morning at 5am. And I'm still not too sure what I'm going to do. What if my advisor isn't going to teach Statistics anymore and this new professor is going to be the only one to teach the full day-time class? I'll be utterly screwed. And so then I'll come up against the same problem in the fall.

I know I need to ask my advisor but I don't want to annoy him since he's already stood up for the other professor. But I simply cannot risk receiving a poor grade because I will be attempting, for the first time this spring, to apply for scholarships. I just can't risk it. Nor do I want to have to waste added time attempting to find a tutor if this teacher is indeed as bad as they say.

Argh... I hate this. But I think I know what I need to do now: I need to find my advisor this morning and ask him if he'll be teaching Statistics in the fall. If he will be, then I will put off Stats. If he won't be, I think I'll still put off Stats till the fall semester, when I will already have gotten some scholarships out of the way and I won't have to worry about a lesser grade.

Sigh. I just don't revel having to talk to him about it again. He didn't seem too pleased the first time around.
