I calculated I have already spent well over a hundred pounds on records the month, and it's, uh, only nine days in  And I'm on the minimum wage, working part time
I have the idea in my mind that money spent on music can never, ever be wasted, in addition to this I still feel guilty about not buying enough records. I think that if I leave a record in the shop my chance to buy it will have passed, it feels horrible, if I want to not buy it I'll have to run out of the shop, keep running until I'm far away.
For the record my debt problem was not caused by this but by buying extortionate rounds of drinks in clubs, (and another obsession with high fashion) but I can quite see how it could land someone with some serious debts.
Has your obsession ever gotten you into dire financial straits? |

Itunes will help you. No more paying for songs you dont want just because they come in the same album as the song you want.
my hobbies are astrophotography and computer gaming and traveling abroad.. so yeah, its expensive 
Its hard to control oneself but when you gotta do it you gotta do it. |

I'm frugal about my money so I don't use it on my obsessions. I have spent maybe over 500 dollars on videogames since I was 15 but I didn't have any bills to pay. I had allowance when I was in high school and I bought games with it mostly. Now that I have moved out, I have to budget. I still buy videogames but not a whole lot. I buy them when I can fit it in my budget but I don't spend all my money.
I also like to buy Benny & Joon stuff but haven't done it since October because I had moved into an apartment.

I only like vinyl, I find it really hard to listen to whole albums on CD's or on my computer. It doesn't feel like pleasure at all, it feels like hard work, because of something I'm not tecchie enough to explain about the nature of the sound. I do download some major label stuff for free off Soulseek, but I always feel like I should support the indies by actually BUYING their music.
I think I'm going to have to go back to not using cards for shopping at all. Put the money I can afford to spend in my purse, and not allow myself to spend any more. |

the great thing about being obsessed with powerchairs and straps is you cant just walk into a dealer and buy them.. have to have a prescription.. and that prescription only grants you ONE powerchair hahaha.... and that is the insurance companies responsibiity to pay for it hahaha....

Well, if I was going to be going shopping then I might as well not bother at all 
On occassions when I'm near shops but not supposed to be shopping I guess I could, but what if I just want a bottle of water or a packet of tissues or need to take the train because my bus doesn't come etc etc etc?
On nights out I don't feel like it's safe to not have any money. |

Yup, I know the feeling of expensive obsessions. I don't want to know how much I've spent on DVD boxsets over the past three-plus years. Considering this, it's probably a good thing that some of the TV shows I'd probably end up buying aren't available on DVD, though the vast majority of my mind does not agree.

Maybe. I just have some issues with prioritizing. The little one always comes first, he always has what he needs. But if it comes down to having a late fee on the water bill or getting my internet shut off, it's internet for the win. All of my obsessions are encompassed right in this beautiful little laptop right here. I almost die when I don't have the flavor of the week to obsessively refresh/check every 5-15 minutes. I really like to refresh 
I'm going to have to start a "Pay Krista's water bill so she can stay on WP and Google AdWords all day" fund.

Most not all of my obsessions are in my laptop too, aside from my tangible sensory obsessions.. But right now I am on my cell phone. Dad has to move the cable from one end of the room to another along with a lot of furniture in the livingroom to make the house more powerchair accessible

This is something that I will be presenting as an issue for the committee I'm trying to get going here in Australia. I've long said that the Disability Support Pension isn't enough to support an Aspie's fixations (I don't use "obsessions" because of the negative connotations - unless the fixation is at a dangerous level).
For myself - travel and accomodation is the biggest financial headache, especially the latter. I have to camp to save money (hostels are not comfortable because of all the people), and a couple of places are hard to get to without spending a packet (Perth is a great example of this). Coupled with my hatred of flying! |

I have well over 3,000 dollars worth of manga... It's been running steady since highschool but now that I'm a poor college student I haven't got the time/money... makes me sad...0
Now most of my obsession time has been converted to free options. Like fanfiction.
