IMO the current way of educating kids is an obsolete relic of the Industrial Age. Textbooks are chosen more on political acceptability then factual merit. Low teacher pay means the people who would make the best teachers go elsewhere and thus leaving children to be educated by mediocre minds that are nothing but glorified babysitters. Standardized tests force schools to teach to the lowest common denominator so the dumb jocks pass the standardized tests, driving all the smarter kids to boredom. Schools strictly enforce "zero tolerance" policies to an absurd degree and yet do nothing about bullying.
The "mass production" style of education may have been the best we can do 50 years ago because of the limits of communication technology and the availability of information back then, but this is the age of Wikipedia and Goggle, we can do better. _________________ My Blog: My Autistic Life |

Former student here...but a current, and always will be a school hater. I've learn't more at home, than I had done being at school...and that just proves that it's a waste of time. [well, for me it was anyway]. _________________ I = Vegetarian!

I'll join the club. I've always hated school. I hated waking up for school. I hated riding the bus to school. I hated being at school. I hated doing homework, which is almost like bringing school home! I often day dreamed about burning the school to the ground or blowing it up while no one was there. I prayed for floods and snow so school would be canceled.

Hell yes. I only go to school because I'm not going to miss out on something that has a chance of being helpful later on. But they don't make classes for people like me (just read the stuff and learn it). Mostly it's either for people who like to get together and talk, or just geared toward the dimmest people in the class. _________________ “Hey, you have ten fingers, I have ten fingers, let's be friends. I know enough of the basics to survive.
And for everything else, Wikipedia is the answer.

I have often said that if I had children I would homeschool them. Most of the administrative staff and half of the teachers I met as a student were brain-dead, and more than a few were hateful.
Professors in college were much better. _________________ To eliminate poverty, you have to eliminate at least three things: time, the bell curve and the Pauli Exclusion Principle. Have fun. |

School - bureaucracy and authoritarianism at their finest.
I especially hate the teachers who treat you like you're an idiot. |

School sucks! Especiallly these annoying assholes, who harrass people... these people are incidentally the weakest people in all subjects, get 5s and 6s (even though the subjects are piss-easy). Do they have any other reason to be on this (expensive) school than to annoy everyone and make up minimum numbers of people per class? Oh and why do some idiots always insist to open the windows if not to make the temperature in the class extremely low? You know, it doesn't matter that the window was open for half an hour before they moved their asses into the class. As soon as they arrive they open the windows and complain as soon as anybody touches it. This makes me wish for superglue!!!
The teachers are often okay, but sometimes a real PITA. Why are they so unable to define the buzzwords, they use? |
