I just read about the latest school shooting in Indiana. When is this going to end? What's it going to be like when my children are in school? Do I have to be terrified every day I send them out the door that some freak is going to load up and open fire in their classroom? People scare me. I think that's my worst fear. Me or someone I love being in the crossfire that society has created. _________________ Curiosity is not a mental illness. |

I'm not really moved by it. It has become the norm these days.
I find it laughable that people in America still claim a constitutional right to "bear arms". I want it to reach the Supreme Court and limited because a) It is not true and b) there are people in this country, and this world, that do not need to have weapons in their hands. |

I am very much pro 2nd amendment. It is both a check potential on abuse of governmental power, and is imperative for sufficient self-defense. I believe that if everyone carried a gun, crime would decrease substantially. You would have to think twice before mugging someone because, "hey, this guy could shoot me in the face right now if I'm not careful." Determined bad guys will always be able to find a gun, its the law-abiding citizens who would be left defenseless. _________________ So I got in a fight with a rabbi the other day. I lost. It IS true! Taken the way leftists decipher it makes NO sense!
You NEED guns to defend against them.
It is ALREADY illegal for felons to own guns, and for people in several states to own guns, but they STILL end up using guns to kill people.
Laws do NOT limit the ability of the guilty and reckless. They merely restrict or hinder the innocent. |

Yeah, in CAlifornia car jackings have happened a LOT! Do you think a person would do that if they knew that everyone around them might have a gun? |

I'm conflicted on the issue. I agree that there are a lot of people who should not have weapons. On the other hand I think a right to bear arms is necessary for self-defense as well as for in the case of rebellion if the government turns dictatorial. _________________ My Blog: My Autistic Life |

Bullets don't bother me, death ain't something to fear [as it's so near from the first breath you take]; it's the people who peel away your skin and pierce your emotions. Emotional pain is worth fearing for the the pain is forever....
Death is but an instant. |

You are scary to me. If I cant protect myself and my family, who will protect us?
The government and the police in most localities owe no legal duty to protect individuals from criminal attack. Researchers found that less than 5 percent of all calls dispatched to police are made quickly enough for officers to stop a crime or arrest a suspect. Police do very little to prevent violent crime. They investigate crime after the fact. It is wrong to disarm the victims while the criminals are armed. |

My leftist and/or liberal friends who're also NRA members (it does happen, you know -- and more and more leftists are understanding the point of the 2nd amendment) would be in full agreement. I live in a state that tends to lean left in politics (even elects socialists) and also has pretty much no gun laws other than don't take them in courts or schools, and then the federal laws. It's no more violent here than anywhere else, and with everyone aware that someone could be carrying a concealed weapon, it's safer in some ways because people are more wary of attacking other people.
Plus, the reason the amendment was there in the first place, was in case the government ever did all the things that caused the Revolution to happen. They wanted to build in safeguards in case it started looking more like a monarchy again.
Additionally, what a lot of people also don't understand is that guns are for a lot of people tools. A lot of poor people hunt to survive. In rural areas, there's often no cops around or means to defend oneself against animals.
Using guns against people is mostly against my religion (I say "mostly" because we don't have anything fully written in stone, since there are exceptions to most situations, but we just require a lot of reflection to figure out whether something is an exception vs. taking the easy way out), but I understand the point behind all this nonetheless, and there are points to guns that have nothing to do with killing people, and in some cases have to do with keeping people alive. _________________ "We may seem in the gutter from up there where you are but maybe you don't know we still see the same stars." -Donna Williams |

I think this is very very strong indication that more and more people have become more desensitized to violent content. There just too many violence these days (or at least more the ones that have been reported). Its almost to the point where we going to say "what else is new?" |
