I forgot how hard it was to be in the christmas crowds until tonight. I took my nephew to see Jarhead. (I love war movies, but this one was more sex and cursing.. but I digress) Anywho, I ran into some folks I know before the movie and after the film I had to get some Christmas Presents......
I forgot how the mall was before the holidays (and the rush hasnt even gotten started yet) I couldnt believe how rude some of these people were! I like to get my shopping done early because I avoid the crowds. By the time my nephew and I got to dinner, I was a nervous wreck.
People dont seem to respond at all to a meek "excuse me" and get huffy and hateful if you say it much louder. As if their little bubble was the only one on the pond, ya know? And I know that the folks at Bath & Body works are just trying to be helpful, but if I tell the associate I dont need help, why does the same person ask over and over? I worked retail once upon a time, and even on a busy day I didnt ask more than once to a person! lol. I should have shopped online... lol. Wink Well at least the folks at Hot Tropic (or what ever) didnt bother me. (I guess preppy looking people scare them there... lol) And I'm not even going to set foot in Wal-Mart in the next 6 weeks, well unless its at 2 am.
I wonder how many other aspies hate the holiday crowds as much as I do.... lol.

I love crowds, if its on my terms. I have to have nothing scheduled, ie just a day for window shopping or loafing around. If I do have things I need to do, I go very early or very late.

Someone talked me into going to Harry Potter on opening night. I'm already unnurved by the thought of the crowd. Confused

Not to digress but last Christmas someone asked me for a gift certificate from Hot Tropics. I had never even heard of the store. Once I got there, I couldn't get the attention of a clerk for anything. I guess 45 year olds in suits aren't their regular cliental either. Laughing

All the more reason to start shopping! Malls aren't nearly as crowded as they are in December. I shop online or shop at odd hours to avoid crowds and the subsequent overload.

Generally I cannot stand going to a mall or a large store on a Saturday, especially during Holiday seasons. Best to go between 10AM and 1PM before all the 'shopping zombies' come out in force.

Personally, I can't understand why people go to the mall and spend hours shopping. When I go there, I have an agenda. Get the stuff that I'm there for, compare prices between stores, and get the f--k out as quickly as possible, with a minimum of delay. Which is why I'll only venture out to a mall on a Saturday only if it's a dire emergency. Besides, Saturday Mall traffic is even worse than commuter traffic.

Then again, there's the local SuperWallmart. I find that the best time to go shopping there is really late at night, when they're stocking shelves.

I try to have my shopping done by October. I love the music and the lights at Christmas, but the people would make Tiny Tim despair.

I chose the above; I have no-one to go xmas shopping for. I really can't see the point of it unless you have a family with children.
