I am an Alaskan and therefore quite oblivious to 'America.' Never lived on the continent. I love Alaska too! But I am not an Alaska native - I am Caucasian.
I am of European ancestry. Most especially UK background; this means English (mostly) - family from Blackheath near Birmingham. And Scottish. Some French-ness in there. And my great grandmother was from India - Kashmir region, Muslim Sikh.
This means I'm white (born in AK means really ghastly pale - never had a tan - genetic too though)! I have dark green eyes with dark eyebrows and eyelashes, dark around the eyes. My hair is dark blonde.
I think OP meant ethnicity, not so much demographics, which can be misleading. I think we all know that anthropologically there is no such thing as human race, by definition. We have cultures, ethnicities though. _________________ same nightmare, different nap

I always wondered about the word 'Caucasian'. Now I know it's US slang for white.
I'm Caucasian and my family's all German since at least two centuries. Totally boring. The only cool thing that's running in my 'blood' is that both lines I descend from love English speaking countries. Our people constantly move other to the US, NZ, Australia, whatever. |

The word Causasian is in reference to the people on the west side of the Caucase (sp?) mountains. Yes, that just means we have white skin. That's a misnomer really, we're more peachy beige. Whatever.
As posted above, there is a propensity for autism is Northen Europeans but I have no idea why - it's not just diagnostics eitther. Something to do with our bloodline. I don't know too much about this and there are plenty of exceptions. I read (somewhere) there's less autistics in Latino cultures, genetically.
Interestingly, Aspies/Auties have a propensity to having rh negative blood types. I am 0 negative! It's quite a marked difference! Don't know why. _________________ same nightmare, different nap

Isn't that due to other cultures/etc having less of a focus and research; not as deep research into autism inthose cultures? _________________ I am a Star Wars Fan, Warsie here.

I've been noticing that there seems to be a lot of people from countries that are located in the northern parts of Europe.
Is aspies common among the vikings? _________________ Oh you can't help that. We're all mad here.

Is aspies common among the vikings? | Could it be that more collective/less individualistic cultures are less likely to get diagnosed because any diagnosis that makes you mentally different form others is considered taboo. i've talked to a friend from the bahamas who is studying psychology and she said in her school you would never tell if you were seeing a psychologist. it had something to do with appearing "mentally inept". it seems like in northern euro cultures, as well as the usa, we are determined to be understood as individuals, or demand that people be aware of who we are as single people, whatever we have. |
