Do you think I should make a WiiWare game? I mean, I just got Beginning Flash Game Programming for Dummies, &, if my dad agrees to a deal my mom said if my dad agrees & I'm willing to use up $300 of allowance for Adobe Flash, (Adobe owns Flash nowadays, in case you don't know; costs $659, I think,) should I make a Flash game? And, if it's successful, should I copyright it, submit it to Nintendo, & see if they accept it as a WiiWare title?
What do you think? (Definetely not gonaa be a launch title, if it'll exist at all.............) |

| Well, there is a risk it won't work out and you won't get your money back, but there is also a chance it will work out and you could become very rich. But I think you need a very original idea which would set yours apart from anything else that has ever been made. For example, I seen a game for the wiiware which is an eating contest game, and that seems like a silly idea but it got people's attention. |

Maybe if you gave mention to this community in your game then you could get a lot of people on this site to buy it.  Maybe a game with a character who has AS could work well.  |

maybe ask wii programmers first what they use before you spend to much money in this endevour otherwise it was wasted for nothing. Think wii programmers dont use flash
because you can only play flash games on pc and not on a wii
start small first for pc games , go then to better platforms , but inform yourself first

Actually, I think EGM or something said themselves Nintendo accepts Flash for WiiWARE. Note the Ware part, I think they accept them forb WiiWare specifically....could be wrong though...... |

No. Making games isn't at all easy and starting up by buying a $700 development kit is a bad idea. Start small, get a cheaper development solution (there are a ton about) and just get a feel for what it takes to make a game. At this juncture it's extremely likely that the reason no-one has done a game like the one you're thinking of is that it takes an impractical amount of work to create. Also Flash isn't really a golden development platform, I can't think of any succesful Flash games that have gone on to become succesful commercially without being rewritten in a "proper" development language.
I don't like being disparaging but the vast majority of people who want to make their own game are victims of their own unrealistic ambition. They find that game programming is a lot harder than they first thought, their ideas really aren't that practical or they know too little about game design to be able to make anything fun. To make something worthwhile alone takes an incredible amount of experience, dedication, talent and vision and then the chances of it being succesful are pretty slim. By all means try but don't invest so much into it. |
