| Hi, I'm new here and I would like to tell you about myself and my son Phillip. Phillip is slightly autistic. He went to school at the age of 2 1/2 and has come a long way. He is now 15 and very confused about himself. We were all like that at one time, but for those with autism, well, the mind of an autistic teen has much deeper thoughts and problems than a normal one. In any case, he's just looking for some answers as to why he's so confused. |

Hi Smerky
I was diagnosed last year and now my 14 year old son has also been, it can be so hard for teenagers as I know only to well from past experiences.
But I never knew or understood, or had a parent wanting to understand me. My son has embraced his differences and does not have a problem with being on the autism spectrum, but finds it so hard that his peers just do not really understand or want to know.
Also there is no real support, resources here in NZ for the more high functioning children.
Your son like mine needs to discuss with like minded teenagers here or can speak to my son Stuart on my forum, site details below. _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" Thank you all very much. I am going to make sure my 15 year old son comes here and maybe he can make more sense of his life. |

Welcome to the forum, Smerky!!
I'm certain Phillip will get some understanding from the people on this site. _________________ I didn't become a loner by choice, but I am thankful that it was forced on me. Having a social life just isn't worth the trouble nowadays.

Hello!
I was a teenager once not very long ago...it's generally confusing. Your son should definitely come here. |

I'm so glad I finally found this. I went to the chatroom where I saw a young lady ask if anyone else hallucinates just before they go to sleep. I told my son that, and he had the biggest smile on his face. I told him, maybe you're not all that different after all. |

Everyone's different, yet the same. It's confusing, just like life. Learn to live with it, and you'll be happy! _________________ I was sad when I found that she left
