I had speech therapy in school... can't remember what grade it was.
I didn't even know it was speech therapy until my mom told me it was.
I couldn't pronounce R's... my sister's name is Laura.. I pronounced it Lo-wah.
According to my mother anyway.
I can remember when I was going to speech therapy that we played games like Candyland and Chutes & Ladders.
Other than that, I can't remember anything else about it.
I was born in England (Portsmouth), my mother is British so I have my British passport and I always knew I was half Brit, half American.
Since i didn't realize what speech therapy was about, I used to think that they were trying to get rid of my British accent.
Only trouble was... we moved to the States when I was 1 yr old and I had been adopted... so no British accent for me _________________ fides solus

I had Speech class in college. We had a person who was so anti-abortion give a speech that lost him every bit of support he thought he would get. At least he served as a bad example...
The only speech therapy I need is knowing when to shut up... |

Hospital would have been okay for me
Aluminum was a problem at times
The last on... well, I would have tried to find another, easier word for it... even if I had to make it up! _________________ fides solus

Well with all dues respect but Advance perportion of speech is public speaking doesn't matter if it a therapy or not. A advance therapy in excercise are like swimming and lifting heavy wait. It just a one notch above the basic which is a simple enunciation.
First you learn the basic including enunciation.
The idea is that when someone say something to you, that you shouldn't be having a lost of word. I get lost of word when I get so frustrated to death.
Speech therapy can be annoying overall. I feel like being mock even if it not intentional.
Does it help? No. It doesn't for me. People who could be dyslexic would lose it tough on word that they were pronunicated before.
I mean... a person who doesn't talk alot but does lot of listening are the one that going to have trouble pronunciate things. |

I had it in elementary school. I learned turn taking and about staying on topic and it was about getting my R's right.
What's the big deal with my accent anyway, everyone talks differently from other parts of the world and country so no need for speech therapy to change my voice and how I pronounce words. I certinally wouldn't want it for my child either but if he or she wanted to change the way they talk, then I'd let them have speech therapy. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/

I was given speech therapy before I was in school. I guess my mother wanted to get it taken care of before school. _________________ Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.

Would you be able to explain what this means? At WP, we do not support religious/ethnic/racial/gender orientation slurs, speech challenges notwithstanding. _________________ Radical Aspergian

Unfortunately, you didn't mean to say it but the problem is that most people get offended any way without even knowing you.
If I travel to countries, if I did say something that did offend them. It is no one by myself to blame. |
