When did you discover AS: Approx. Sept. 2005 my cousin 7 years younger told me about
taking care of two young boys Dxed. I babysat her a lot when she was between 3 and 9 years old so we have a tight bond. Now I wonder if she was trying to point me in this direction. I first took a good look at criteria Feb. 07 and realized thats me.
Other Psych Diagnosis: None right now. After I finish the Refinery Short Call I am going to a UCSF shrink and pay out of pocket, so that it remains my business and not the business of my
HMO or Union Brothers/Sisters. Should have a Diagnosis by mid April.
Degree: Some (2years) college, no degree, various Trade/tecnical scools and classes.
Kids: no
Favorite music: Blondie, Ramones, Filter, Offspring, Motels, WARREN ZEVON!!!

Relationship with significant other, past or present? Two failed marriages
Plans for the future? Keep it together. This diagnosis hits me with four novels in varying stages of creation, a full clinical load, and a budding practice of neurofeedback, an attempt to learn piano, along with assorted other past and future projects. I have studied Up until this moment (of diagnosis) I have been struggling to find the meaning of my wanderings through the forests and fields of thought and activities. My life moves on past itself every two years - which is not long enough to accomplish works worth finishing. If only I were taller, and could see around the bend of the terrain, and I were smarter, so I could execute my scrambled thoughts more quickly, then I would be able to publish, or even just finish project before starting another. It is my hope that learning from you-all may give me that vision.

When did you discover AS? I knew about it, but never gave it any thought, till I had someone told me I had alot of Aspie traits, that was about 3 month ago.
Do you have other psych diagnoses? AD-HD had depression, and anxiety issues in the past, also suffering from PTSD,
my girlfriend says I get torretts syndrome when driving

When did you discover AS: I discovered it about two years ago. My mother became a TA specializing in special needs children. She told me about it, and said that it was likely that I had it. I resisted until last fall. Then, after some research, I came to the conclusion that I had AS. I have since had that concept confirmed by several who are knowledgable in regards to AS.
Any other psych diagnosis: I actually don't have any official diagnosis. However, in addition to AS, after further research, I beleive that I have Central Auditory Processing Disorder, Bipolar, maybe some ADD, likely some OCD, and also some PTSD.
Do you have a degree: BSc. (Computer Engineering). Am supposed to be pursuing a PhD at the moment. However, that has been snatched away for the moment.
Kids: None yet.
Favourite Music: Classic Country. Largely the first two generations, Outlaw Country, and others created outside of Nashville (such as Bakersfield Sound), Bluegrass, some oldies, and suprisingly, Meatloaf.
Job: Fixing fireplaces. Cannot obtain a position in my industry (hardware design).
Relationship: Was married for about three years. Divorced. Currently living with my GF. Rather concrete plans for marriage. However, waiting for finances to co-operate.
Plans for the future: Get PhD. Research quantum computation.

I'm an artist. I paint. Currently trying to create as much art as possible to supply the shows I have upcoming. I read. I write. I make herbal tinctures. I have a big interest in alternative medicine.
When did you discover AS?
I took a personality test last year and it said that I have AS. Looking it up quickly on Wikipedia and not liking to see the word, "autistic" I stopped pursuing that idea. But the topic came up again a couple weeks ago so I stopped everything and took a couple specific AS tests, in which I scored within the boudries. Low end, but still within.

No. Hated school in all forms. Only studied once out.

When did you discover AS? I first read about AS in 1999 or 2000 and, in a quest for objectivity, spent the time from then 'till about a week ago evaluating myself before finally deciding that it fit. Eight years isn't too long for a decision like that, is it?
Do you have other psych diagnoses? None official, though I could probably come up with a few... how does moderate agoraphobia grab ya?

Kids? Almost. Would've been nine years old by now.

When did you discover AS? January 6, 2004 when a colleague told me about her soon-to-be-ex son-in-law.
Do you have other psych diagnoses? No, although I could probably have for anxiety and depression if I pursed them.
Do you have a degree? B.S. and M.A.
Kids? No, that would require actually having a successful intimate relationship.
Favorite music, other than NIN Laughing: I'll have to Google NIN. I appreciate all kinds of music, except most Country. and nearly all Contemporary Christian. I am not nostalgic for music of my youth because my Classical Music loving parents wouldn't allow me to listen to anything with a beat to it.

When did you discover AS? Diagnosed October 2006
Comorbid diagnoses: generalized social anxiety, dysthymia (mild depression)
Degrees: BA economics, political science 1998. MA in education will complete in June 2008
Kids: no
Favorite music: singer songwriter primarily multiple genres. current favorites: Phil Ochs, Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, Merle Haggard, Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Nick Drake
Job: I'm hoping to get a high school teaching job (social studies) for next fall. Not sure if I'll like it, but I want to try. I might be better suited to college teaching.
Relationships: Never really have had friendships. Had a romantic relationship for a couple of years, problem was we got along, but we weren't really friends (got along with each other, but didn't connect emotionally or have common interests).
Biggest problem: Pervasive loneliness tends to get in the way of many things. |
