I love rock. Metal to be exact. Im a headbanger. Godsmack, Metallica, Korn, System of a Down, Megadeth. Iv been thinking about going to a concert. Preferably a Godsmack concert because they are by FAR my favorite band. But would all the sound and people sensory overload me?

Have you ever been to a metal concert before? 'Cause if you haven't, don't assume you'll be fine. BTW do metal concerts have mosh pits? A mosh pit would overload an aspie and maybe even kill him. As far as sensory overload goes, I do not think there could be anything worse than being caught in a mosh pit at a Megadeth concert.

Better be sure b4 you buy the ticket. Skull

I brought earplugs and stayed towards the back out of the crowd. It was good.

What happens when you get overloaded? I like to go to metal concerts, or more frequently loud noisy music other than metal. Since I've started to think that I'm an aspie, I've realized that I do in fact stim during concerts. I sway and squeeze my arms. Sometimes I close my eyes. But nothing bad ever happens, and I just feel like I'm responding to the music.

hmm...last metal concert I went to was decades ago. I just pick a distance from the stage that works. Actually, if you can get front row, most of the sound is overhead. I always wondered about kids (or idiots) climbing into the bass cabinets...Wink

well, isn't that the POINT? Isn't that why anyone goes to a heavy metal concert but to get seriously overloaded?

dude! totally! it will fry you in extra virgin olive oil and server you up like frenchfries with catsup!

have fun! if you are on your bike, be sure to wear white.

yes. as others said, stay near the back and keep earplugs necessary. Actually, I thought of the stay in the back. the other guy got to it first.

I've been in a parade and close to the end a good part of a adjoining street was just like a mosh pit haha. dancing, drinkng, etc. South Side Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The Chicago police made it for lack of a better term, gay. Cracked down, but they didn't pay attention to the mosh pit the street part I mentioned earlier became.

EDIT: the mosh pit-like thing was cool and I did not get overwhelmed.....had not problems except hurt legs (walked to the parade from home, decent distance and walked down some of the parade route and walked home at the end)

yeah you gotta be careful in the crush of people. Lots of preditors look just for our kind out there because they know they can molest us easily and most of the time we won't be able to react to keep it from happening. I used to wear tights AND a leotard under jeans and tee shirt to make it not worth the time it would take to get me out of them. I blush to say, I learned the hard way.

As in people stealing your stuff/pickpocketers? But I have heard that it is possible to basically rape some people as they're too busy dancing and the like an they won't notice a feel here or there..

also, hmm are many autistics noticeable that much in social events? I remember a person telling me that most people do not notice you in decent-sized groups. But I've heard otherwise. So it depends. I don't think I was noticeably autistic; many of the people at school just know of me as the weird guy (and I wasn't diagnosed until last year) . Meh.

you think being a dude makes you immune to some guy feeling you up and getting their rocks off on you in a crush of people? Are you saying that some preditor pervert will scruple to not touching a guy because of some unwritten rule that guys don't touch guys?
you are not telling me that no guys ever took advantage of another guy. There are preditors that look only for the obvious signs of victim like behaviour. Dude, wise up. there are all kinds out there. it's the victim they are looking for, not the gender.

there ya' go! preditors are to be aware of, with some sort of plan thought out before it happens rather than being helpless because it is something we never thought of before while it is happening.
just sayin'
