Here’s an idea for raising public awareness of High-Functioning Autism and giving our NT brothers and sisters a sense of who and what we are, while maintaining a whimsical sense of humor about it all (it could also be used to help fund the WP site): A series of T-shirts - black, with white (and/or red where appropriate for emphasis) lettering on front, and perhaps the Wrong Planet.com logo in White, blue and Green on back. Here are a few ideas for slogans for the fronts…

Asperger Syndrome:
What can I say? It’s a gift.

I know I’m different
And I’m very sorry you aren’t.

Autistic
I’ll stop moving, If you’ll stop talking.

DON’T BOTHER ME
(I’m stimming)

Hi! I’m Autistic!
Now get the hell away from me and leave me alone.

That’s Soooo NT.

I’m an excellent driver.
Yeah –definitely…definitely an excellent driver.

This shirt feels funny.

Figures.
Life is a party, and I’m Autistic.

Sorry, I have
Asperger Syndrome
I was born without the ass-kissing gene.

I heard you.
I’m still thinking.

You look disturbingly neurotypical
Are you feeling okay?
(never mind, I don’t really care)

High-Functioning Autistic
Obsessive routines may vary

Asperger Syndrome:
The next step in human evolution.

I’m not avoiding eye contact.
I’m trying not to stare at your face.

I don’t know what you want from me.
(and I for one am perfectly comfortable with that)

Warning: Asperger Syndrome
Don’t get me started
I’ll talk till your ears bleed.

Yes, I’m Autistic; No, I won’t be coming to your party.

Welcome to my
Asperger Syndrome
Where life is one big anxiety attack.

I’m not ignoring you, I’m Autistic.
(okay, I am ignoring you)

Asperger Syndrome
Sorry I can’t help you right now
I’m having an anxiety attack.

I’m Autistic
What’s your excuse?

If you’d been born on my planet
You’d be the oddball right now.

Did you make that yourself. I think that would be cool. Maybe even paste a cool photo on a shirt with that kind of logo. I don't really know what's "NORMAL" anymore except boring.

I love some of these! They'd be a great fundraiser - and my boy would have clothes for next year!

I do well by not advertising my neurodiversity, and can't fathom why anyone would want to subject theirs to being a public conversation topic.

because NTs can't begin to understand your differences if they don't comprehend why you are the individual you are. If they don't come to some understanding that those differences are actually physical in nature and go deeper than just the visible external behaviors, they'll continue to treat you (and others like you) like freaks and weirdos forever. I for one am tired of that treatment.

You'll get 10 times as much bad treatment if you have a public awareness campaign. Think you easily get taken advantage of now? Imagine what it will be like when people you've never even met before read your displayed slogan. You'll be setting yourself up for having no friends at all, aside from the tiny percentage of the population that happen to truly be AS (if you're even lucky enough to meet any).

I have a shirt that says "I'm allergic to stupid people." I want to wear it to college but I might start sneezing.

Okay, I'm in:

I'm an Aspie

If you just got to know me
You'd like me even less
