http://www.faceblind.org/facetests/fgcfmt/fgcfmt_intro.php

The average is 80%
I got 65%
Below 65% indicates difficulties

The test takes between 10-15 minutes. It is fairly boring but it's interesting to know the end result. It's difficult.

Someone at work took it and got 82%

Now I'm wondering how well people here do on it Smile

Ive done this before and got something around 65%. I was expecting to score more badly, as in real life I am not good at faces at all, but I think the difference is that in real life I dont look at faces enough to recognise people, whereas in this test I looked carefully.

Grayhound let me tell you why I think this test is kind of flawd Laughing Just my 2 cents...It starts with the word MEMORIZE. It gives the brain a precise command, it tells you to FOCUS on memorizing. Of course you tend to pay more attention (or at least some people would be tempted to do so). It's not the same as when you see some guy at work but no one is there to "order" you to memorize his face for later purposes:)

I got a 94.

I know. You can't a) remember to memorise a real face b) stare intently at real people's faces.

grayhound, yeah. So the score doesn't reflect reality:) I know that. I think the problem is as you said, not being able to remember to memorize the faces...or not even caring to memorize them:)

"Out of 72 faces, you correctly identified 67.

I think it is because I'm a sculptor (but not for a living), and can make an exact, real life copy of anyone's face and head in clay, which may be an Aspie trait.

If I had been asked to look at those faces without knowing why, I'm sure I would have remembered very few of them.

Recognizing people in real life is challenging though, because I rarely look at people's faces unless I am studying them hard for some reason, such as thinking they are threatening, strange or unusual. Or, of course, because I am sculpting them.

I just took the test.

Quote:

On our previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 80% of the faces. If you correctly identified less than 65% of the faces, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.

That felt harder than it was. I don't have problems recognising people when I have to, so I'm not too surprised. Depending on my state of mind, my long term memory for faces can be a little less reliable, but it seems to hold up well enough. I'd rather test that ability though.

In my case it is in agreement with the real life: my ability to remember faces is just average.
