I have been using computer since 1980, an old business computer, don't remember the name, but it did run unix, it was the size of 4 filing cabinets, I would play an old star trek game on it. I couldn't afford to get into computers, I wish I did earlier, it wasn't until 1992 that I started taking a real interest, using the old Mac Classics, then using Pc's and Windows later on that year, the internet was still fairly simple at that time, we had Freenet, which was about the only service in Edmonton at the time, so it was only about 1995 before I actally got the chance to use the internet, at the school library, and the first thing I looked at was the Playboy website
It wasn't until 1998 that I finally built my own computer out of parts I found while dumpster diving, behind a large companie in downtown Edmonton, an AMD-K6-2 266 processor and a Gigabyte motherboard, still in the case, it only had 32mb of ram, but it was better then what some people were still using then |

First computer I touched was in '91 or '92 - was a dual 5.25" 8086 PC. I was having a ball with Word Perfect 5.x and Harvard Graphics. The day we had a 20 MB (yes, MB) hard drive installed.. that was the cat's meow.
First encounter with the Internet was in 1994. I had a 386DX running Windows 3.11.

First computer I owned was at age 8. It was a 48k ZX Spectrum, with the rubber keyboard, and a separate tape recorder to load games (Probably started using computers at primary school, maybe at age 6, I haven't a clue what year as we changed teachers so often. I had at least 10 over the 6 years). It was also the first computer I ever fixed, when the connector for the game port at the back came loose, and needed soldering back in place (Yeah, soldering at .
First PC I owned was at age 11. An 8MHz 8086, with 2x 5.25" floppy disks, a 30MB hard disk mounted on an ISA controller card, and a CGA monitor capable of 16 colors (but only 4 at a time, one of them being black).
First used the internet, probably in primary school in it's humble beginnings (there wasn't much on there at the time). Made my first web site at 18, on Geocities. Learned HTML and JavaScript in a month after getting to college where they had it in the computer room.
I'm 30 at the moment, and while I don't have around 40 computers any more, I've probably still got about 20 (including the Suns in the attic), 8 in use. _________________ You aren't thinking or really existing unless you're willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence. |

| The first time I used a computer I was 5. I got my first computer when I was 6 or 7 (a Commodore 64). A couple years later I got a 386. The first time I used the internet was probably in 1993 or 1994. I didn't get a computer with the internet until 2003. |

Internet since..'97 or '96.
Computers..hmm, had an old 86 (it didn't even have a harddrive!! ) since '92 or so. Before that, I had a commodore 64. Man, I wish they made games with gameplay like they had on the c64. |

I've been using a computer since 1993/1994 (when I was 4), the first computer my dad had was an Amiga 3000 which died in 1995, and his buddy who works in the computer industry gave him a computer (something archaiac, the maker doesn't even exist anymore) which he didn't have any actual use for until 1996/1997 when the game "Diablo" came out and that's when we got the internet so he could play online with this same friend. Those were the good old days, when you could basically die from internet lag in games. Good times (Oh yes, I did indeed play this game on and offline several dozen times. It is a classic of the computer game genre). Our first ISP was something called Sprynet (the ISP for my dad's friend's then employer CompuServe), then we moved onto Mindspring, then Earthlink after Earthlink bought Mindspring, then after an argument with Earthlink (who'd been restricting our bandwidth without knowledge for the last few months we had them), we moved to Cox High Speed Internet and never looked back (basically 97% of the people I know personally use Cox [who is our local cable provider] as their ISP, they're fantastic). _________________ "We can't stop here, this is bat country." - Hunter S. My family got it's first computer sometime around '96 and I was allowed limited time to access it. Before that I remember playing some really primitive kid's keyboard typing game on my father's computer in his workplace. _________________ "How about a shave?"

I think I started with computers in either 2000 or 2001 when I was 4 or 5.
Internet, I don't know. |
