I find it difficult to believe that I am the only Autechre fan on WP. I searched, but no one seems to have mentioned this artistic marvel Alex Rutterford created for Autechre.
I am actually wondering if anyone else has audio/visual synesthesia like I do, wherein you naturally see music like this. I would like to know what you think of Rutterford's interpretation.

I like autechre. I have the INCUNABULA and DRAFT7.30 albums. I'm not an expert on them though or in any type of music for that matter.
I think I checked them out for the first time really long ago because Tom Yorke had said he listened to them on some interview.

I am a huge fan of Autechre! I think they are absolutely brilliant. Their output from around LP5 onward is fascinatingly complex - though I enjoy their early stuff too - like Tri Repetae in particular. And I do get a kind of visual synesthesia listening to music of this sort (more so than with more conventional, lyrical music). When I first saw Gantz Graf a few years ago it completely blew my mind. Partially because it represented the kind of visions I'd had listening to their music all along. That video is amazing - I think the interpretation of the music is spot-on.
I need to catch up on Autechre's latest output - I think Gantz Graf is the last I heard from them.

So, there was, minding my own business, eating my sandwich, and decided to peruse this forum to see what kind of artsy Aspies there are, and I see this! It's extra funny since I just pointed out over at the Psychforums Aspie section in a thread about music tastes that I was shocked none of them listed hardcore electronic artists.
Gantz Graf is a marvel, musically and visually, especially since I do have synesthesia related to music. It's absolutely one of my favourites. Problem is, I can't claim I'm Aspie, though I do have some traits (mild obsessive-compulsive, tic issues, etc.). Close enough, I guess. Yeah, I actually do have synesthesia like that a lot when it comes to music, particularly revolving around music dynamics (the machinegunning of the beats to the visuals, everything tightening up like a string when its on a suspense stretch - point on). Part of why I've been as addicted to jungle and particularly dark drum & bass in my past was just because of how I felt these dynamics. Here's something I'm sure you'd find pretty digusting - especially for 4:20, as one of my friends pit it"so intricate and twisted its almost stressful". Prode and Procket have lots of other stuff like this as well.
Also, you may or may not know Source Direct - very dark and kinetic.
On Autechre, I don't know why I never got into em. I think back when I really got into electronic music though I came from the industrial side and a loved the stuff a lot more that had no linkage to industrial - particularly jungle and techno that had much more of a hip-hop or gangsta type feel rather than the VNV Nation; the tech-thuggin' stuff just grabbed me like that and like VNV, this stuff would have felt (like Aphex Twin, Juno Reactor, etc.) too close to industrial. I think I might be more opened to something like that right now, just that I can see where my swings in taste had their own rhyme and reason.

And btw, the video is pretty tight but the only thing I'm not feeling is how he limited it to a cylindrical shape. Yeah, the percussion is very stabby in a lightning quick gatlin-gun kind of way but the form feels a lot more fluid almost like it should almost snake around and be fluid at the same time. Otherwise its great though.
