I was wondering if anyother aspies liked to Geocache.
for those that dont know what this is it is a global treasure hunt using GPS. People "hide" a container with trinkets in it and post the coord online on the site and people go off and find it.
www.geocaching.com
I love it. I go alone mostly, and I get to use all those map skills I have as well as those techie toys I love! If the website doesnt help answer any questions, please ask, and Ill try to answer what I can.
The state of SC, where I hail, is trying to ban it because one rep in beaufort thinks its bad. Many folks CITO (Cache In Trash Out) and help keep the parks clean that we visit. |

Hi Ladysmokeater,
I love geocaching! When I was a child, I used to dream of finding buried treasure and such (I suppose it stems from my love of pirate-y things ) and gocaching is the next best thing
It combines my love of hiking and finding hidden treasures and I get to leave a little something behind for other people to find....how fun!
At first, when I started going "hunting" for hidden treasure, I've got to admit my OCD kicked in and I had a tough time believing that there were caches in those containers and not just icky discarded trash from some lazy person. Wearing gloves helps calm my senses now when I go searching.
It's too bad that one lousy rep in SC is trying to ruin the fun for geocachers there! _________________ Compressing the most words into the smallest ideas possible.

Isn't this the same guy that got in trouble earlier this year due to what he said about domestic violence? _________________ "When there's no 'there' to get to, we're so there!" |

Some weeks ago I joined somebody on his search for a cache. It was really fun. Working with maps and compass have always been fun for me, now it is a good moment to freshen up my skills and use them for geocaching.
I already looked at a proper GPS receiver and am going to buy one this week. Next I am learning to work with it properly and then seeking the first cache on my own.
Good thing will be that I will walk during the geocaching, so it will also be good for my health. |

| I just bought a garmin device today so me and my son could do some geocaching together. They're saying we need to spend more time together, so we're giving it a shot. It does sound fun. |

Haven't done much geocaching, but I do the lower tech letterboxing quite a bit. I do want to get into geocaching too, just gotta get some $ for a GPS. _________________ "Strength does not come from physical capacity; it comes from an indomitable will." Ghandi
