If i had to choose between myths, I would pick the "god made you the way you are, so it would be a sin to try and change that" people over the

"MERCURY!MERCURY!CHELATION!"

people ANY day.
Very Happy

I wouldn't go so far as to speculate that much w/o a time machine, but I can say for certain that my comment was in jest.

I've never personally heard any stereotypes, but I hate it when people assume that I'm faking it, or are just ignorant. =_=

I take "you don't seem like someone with AS" as an opportunity to educate, though sometimes, it can piss me off. It's that kind of thought that makes it hard for some of us to get what we need.

There's a decent argument concerning Hitler and AS; an Autism Specialist is the one who thinks such. Michael Fitzgerald his name is.

It's just as valid as any other dead person being diagnosed post-mortem.

There is so much misinformation on the Internet about AS. A lot of those sites are very depressing.

The idea of Jesus causing AS is impossible...
There is no Jesus.

If aspergers was caused by Jesus, it would at least justify a holier-than-thou attitude...

I actually feel scared for the kids of parents who refuse to vaccinate them under the idea that vaccines cause Autism. These parents apparently feel that allowing their kids to get violently ill and possibly even terminally ill would still be better than having them be Autistic. As I see it, this is even worse than the ones that support the Autism Speaks "cure" of aborting their pregnancies after a positive prenatal Autism test.

These are people that put their hopes and dreams for their children before their children's health and safety, that sickens me to no end.

Yes, I've heard about the abortion "cure". If anybody suggests forced abortions for autistic kids, I'll personally hurt them.
Really now, death is better than being Autistic? Being an Autistic or an Asperger sucks, yeah - we don't have it easy as those neurotypical assholes. But, hell, if that's how they think, we are most definitely better.
Maybe it's them there non-mutants who are flawed, eh?
Apparently the world would be a better place if there never were any Da Vinci's, Einsteins, or other such people.
But, no - those people, we, are different. And to good, wholesome, "normal" people, different is bad.
Why do they assume they are so much better, why do they assume they would ever have the right to do such a thing?
I doubt anybody would ever actually - at least, any official government - would allow such, but, even still, "genetic purity" is a concept not unheard of.
Besides which, the very fact it's even been thought of... ye gods, how sick.

If I see one more damned google ad on the "truth" about aspergers, somethings gonna explode.

I've had to deal with the "abortion cure" for Marfan syndrome my whole life.

Technically, since Jesus caused everything, He caused Asperger's. Not sure what the original quote meant, but my attitude is that most so-called mental "disorders"--and, in fact, most physical "disabilities"--were designed with a purpose; it's society that's screwed up because of sin. Throughout the Gospels, when Jesus cures the sick and the lame, He a) emphsizes that sin does not cause their disease (even though Christianity carried that belief over from Judaism) and b) He often seems a bit annoyed by people wanting to be cured, like, at the very least, their priorities are screwed up.

Asperger's, ADHD, even schizophrenia, give the brain certain advantages over so-called NTs. Think about it: in a world where people actually loved each other unconditionally, would Asperger's be considered a "disorder"? In a world where people loved each other unconditionally, would it matter if someone were blind, deaf or crippled?

So, yes, Jesus "caused" Asperger's. Society makes it a "disorder," becaues society itself is inherently disordered.
