| I was dx'd at age 3 with LFA...I was non-verbal and I didn't play at all with other kids, and when I did play with toys I didn't play with them the right way (apparently there is a right way to play with toys). I started talking at the age of 5, and with lots of occupational therapy and some hard work on my part I slowly became a high functioning autistic adult. I have more in common with autism than Asperger's really...but I'm not sure the original dx in 1985 was the right one...I'm certainly not low functioning at all. I have a career, I own a home, I cook, I clean (most of the time), I drive, I'm getting married.......maybe I'm not autistic at all....although I do still stim, and I'm not great at making eye contact. |

^I went through the same things as well for years before I got an official diagnosis from someone in my family suspecting I had it. To think I wasted my time and my mom's money on these "smart" doctors.

Autistic and ADHD.
It is easier to say Aspargers than to try to explain what high functioning autistic is.
non verbal until 4 1/2, and taught myself to read before I turned 3.
Diagnosed at 4 as an Autie + ADHD, my mother refused to have me medicated and was one of the best things she done for me in my childhood. |
