It usually is not fun to play against computers in chess. The good ones will just massacre you, no matter how strong you are, and when you set them on a weaker setting they don't make realistic moves. They just play well and then make random blunders. Chessmaster is good though. Sometimes can feel a bit like a human opponent. Try freechess.org if you want to play a few good games of chess.
