I think AS is called a "non verbal learning disability"... or something like that.

AS is a pervasive developmental disorder, though we are visual learners for sure - which can be hard as college and some high school teachers are usually verbal verbal verbal.

Addition: According to wikipedia, "Conditions that must be considered in a differential diagnosis include other ASDs, ... , nonverbal learning disorder, ... " meaning if you have one of the others, there's a smaller chance you have Asperger's too - depending on the disorder of course.

I don't think aspies have a learning disability, we may learn differently then people who are NT's, since we
finally have a name for this condition, maybe we will be able to set a new learning standard for aspies as well.

I don't feel like I have a learning disability, and I never really did. I don't understand why I had to be put into Special Ed, when I didn't feel disabled and the other kids faired a lot worse than I did. The kids in those classes made excuses for their bad behaviour, blaming it on the fact that they had learning disabilities. I didn't really like that. I'm glad that I was mainstreamed, in high school. I don't have much to say about college. I never had the chance to follow my dreams. I was put into a special needs job training programme. I've felt that I was too advanced to be in that class. The professors didn't do me any favours. I was in that programme for two years, before I was doing the most mindless tasks in a diving suit factory. That was a waste of five years, out of my life. Two years in a special needs job training course, so I could do the least stimulating tasks in a factory.

No. I have never had any learning difficulties, although I do tend to procrastinate.

Asperger's is NOT a learning disability. Even if you have problems with a logical subject, one day it will just click.

Like most people with AS, I find English very hard (but I'm fortunate enough to be getting a high grade at it). I don't think English Literature is important, as it looks at things that aren't there.

I cannot spell to save my life . I guess that will be language disorder . And I have no idea how to use punctuation .

But I am highly gifted in mechanical abilities and spatial relations .

That's a great way to put it. That is how I feel too. I have terrible trouble with maths, which has made getting through all my core classes for my MBA a very stressful ordeal. I can't wait to get to the fraud classes (this summer, yay!). Unfortunately I also have to take my last core class this summer as well: Statistics.

Lol, same. Laughing

I've never been good at math. All through my school years on school reports I got "needs more work" or "is having trouble" on the math section. I did math tuition for a few months during intermediate school, which is where it was first noticed that I may have a learning disability, but I was never "officially" tested for anything.
