Does anyone know of any firm or group that works with job seekers with Asperger's or ADD? I'm aware of the free Natural Learning Concepts listings, but I really looking for some service that can actively reach out for me specifically.

I've met with a job counselor within my state's rehabilitation division since September, but, as it turns out, he wasn't able to help much. The challenges turned out to be too great. My two main hindrances in finding a job that fits are great difficulty sustaining written composition (due to demands on my poor working memory) and significant social anxieties with people I've known for only a short period.

My MA is in "political management". Searching job listings in the areas of campaigns and nonprofits has been futile over the past year, given my aforenoted problems. I'm not limiting myself to just those areas, but I do need a significant level of preexisting knowledge and interest in some facet of whatever position I pursue. For instance, I was ok with applying for an "administrative" job because it involved work with green buildings and other environmental issues I know about (along with not having a significant amount of writing). I've agreed to create and write political ad concepts and scripts (not much writing) with a local political firm, although they're never going to actually ask me to do so.

Nonetheless, the job counselor I was seeing wasn't able to help me anymore. The last thing I had him doing for me was calling (about 10) environmental groups within the region and seeking advice from people within that field and politics generally on a niche for someone with my issues. He ended up fibbing about getting voicemail or no answer at all 10 groups and a politician's office I asked him to "network" with for me. As such, my social worker has agreed to have the rehabilitation division pay for the services of an job-search agency that works with the similarly disabled. If anyone has any ideas, let me know so I can inform my social worker of what is available.

I don't know for sure about this, but yesterday I was told to go to Goodwill Industries and that they help people with disabilities find work. Also in case you don't know your Voc rehab counselor should be able to help you with things like reimbursing you for new clothes for job interviews. Also letting you use their fax machine, printer, etc for sending out resumes. You also might want to consider applying at jobs not related to your field of study or going back to school to learn IT or medical because that's the only jobs that pay anymore. You can always apply for entry level production/assembly or custodial jobs and have more chance of being hired. Yeah its not glamorous but its a job. Also sign up with temp agencies such as Kelly Services. Hope that helps! Good luck dude!!
