Do you ever feel that even though you're overweight, you always feel kinda skinny inside?

I used to weigh 300lbs but now weigh 170 which is about right for my height. I have celiac disease and once I quit eating gluten the weight came off pretty quick. Overeating is not the only cause of obesity. I have to watch what I eat and exercise which isn't always fun but I'm healthier at 40 than I was at 20. It's not fun being overweight.

Not really. I'm considered skinny by most, but some days I just feel fat. Sometimes I'm suprised when I look in the mirror, and I don't look as bad as I think I do.

I suspect you may have a healthy self-image, which I lack.

I'm very lazy & can't find enough time to exercise.
I am five-ten and appear fat.

In what ways can I lose weight in time for college in the fall,
other than joining a gym?

That's interesting - were you overweight when they diagnosed you? I'm overweight and I suspect I have problems with gluten or wheat in general - I have digestive problems if I eat too much bread - but when I went to the doctor to get a celiac test done she looked at me like I was an idiot. Yes, generally if you can't digest food properly you'll lose weight, but there's got to be a stage while celiac is still developing where you're just sensitive to gluten, not necessarily full-out "allergic".

Ride a bicycle everywhere you can (or just walk). Take stairs instead of the elevator for any floor below 6 (or even get off the elevator 2 or 3 floors early and take the stairs the rest of the way). Play sports. Doesn't have to be a team sport. Take martial arts. Learn how to row. Take dance lessons. Run. Walk. Swim.

Not always. But mostly I feel skinny, until I see myself in a reflection, bend over or try to fit in a tight space, or overeat and feel stuffed.

People say you feel skinny because the muscle tissue is under the fat, not over it.

The strange thing is that when I was skinny, I felt fat most of the time.

Very few doctors in North America even know what celiac is so don't waste your time trying to get an official diagnosis. My doctor told me that I know far more about celiac than she does. Since doctors can't write a prescription for celiac they really don't want to know about it. The best way to tell if gluten is a problem is to not eat it for six weeks and you will notice a difference if it is. For me it only took a week and I felt like a completely different person. check out www.celiac.com for more information. Sometimes when you body is reacing to something it doesn't like you will reatain water and store up excessive amounts of fat. Tha is why I weighed so much. Once the offending toxin was out of my body it quit storing extra water and fat.

Also, antibodies to gluten can cross-react with the thyroid...when the gluten is out of the diet, the thyroid recovers and energy goes up, weight goes down.

It means you are comfortable with yourself, if you have a good self image it means you are happy the way you are.

I have body dysmorphic disorder which means no matter how thin I am I'm always going to look huge in the mirror to me. I have poor self image.

Oh yeah, now I know what you mean, I'm overweight and I'm okay being that way.

And for goodness sakes, eat healthily! That means nothing processed and no artificial colours/sweeteners/preservatives.
