Every time I install Daemon Tools after about two days or so I get this message when I try to open it:

This is bugging the hell out of me since I don't know why this is happening. I have tried installing various versions of Daemon Tools but the same thing happens. It won't let me open the program when this message pops up and I can't even uninstall the program. In order to uninstall it I have to get the program, reinstall it, then uninstall it after reinstalling it. I also have the same problem with Alcohol. After about 2 days or so it won't let me mount images anymore. I don't know if this is related or not but DVDShrink also becomes corrupted and won't open after a couple days as well. All the rest of the software on my computer works flawlessly though.

Does someone have a solution to this problem? Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

What OS are you on? I'm not sure Daemon Tools works with anything under XP or 2000..

Windows XP Pro SP3.

Daemon Tools is essential to me so I hope I can sort out this problem. It could be a incompatibility problem with Windows XP SP3 but I doubt it since nothing much has changed in SP3. I'm trying to remember if I had this same problem when I was running SP2...

I'm actually starting to think that when I was using Windows XP Professional SP2 (which was very briefly) on this computer I don't think I had any problems with Daemon tools.

If you are using Windows XP Professional SP3 let me know if you have this same problem with Daemon Tools. Thanks.

It's service pack 3. It's known to cause all sorts of problems with software.

Have you tried Daemon Tools out yet with SP3?

I don't personally use that programme, but I'm a member of a lot of beta forums, as is the BF. Half the programmes people use don't work at all with SP3, thankyouverymuchMicroshaft!

Your best bet is to uninstall the pack and wait a few months. Or don't even bother upgrading...

All of my software is working flawlessly with SP3 installed except for image-mounting software (Daemon Tools, Alcohol, etc.) and DVDShrink.

I would also uninstall the sp3 and go back to sp2 for a few months. Microsoft probably rushed it and included a few bugs. And knowing Microsoft it will take about a month or two.

I'll test d-tools when I get home and let you know if I run into that problem

nope, no problems.

I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall, manually. There's info about it in the site.

I was recommended "Virtual Clonedrive" by someone on a different forum. It's been working flawlessly so far. It actually seems to be better software than Daemon Tools and Alcohol.

Here's a link to it: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Virtual-CD-DVD-Rom/Virtual-CloneDrive.shtml
