I am completely clueless when it comes to turning/starting a conversation with someone I like away from trivial things to my attraction to her and whether it's reciprocated or not.
I used to just get drunk and rely on pulling with few words exchanged, this worked every now and then but really doesn't anymore (never did for longer than 1 night anyway!) so I think I need to actually develop verbal skills to meet someone.
So, the point to my post? I was looking for perhaps any advice you people may have, any suggestions of opening or turning conversation with someone your interested in.
There's a girl I like at the moment who's a friend of a friend so I'm not necessarily looking for opening 'lines' for someone I've just met/seen but if anyone wants to offer anything of that sort it's welcome as I'm useless at that too!
Unfortunately, I find it hard to admit to my flaws with most friends and family as it makes me feel extremely vulnerable, even though deep down I know they'd probably be able to help me more. So anything I get here would be that bit more valuable!
Thanks

Hi Mark,
I'm not that good at giving relationship advice but I think the best thing you can do is what my friend did. She couldn't take that first step and she wrote a list of the things she wanted to say to this boy (who is now her boyfriend, by the way) and the order in which she thought was most important.
Also, it is useless for me to offer you such advice as "Just do it" or "It can't be that hard, just get it over with" because that won't help you at all. I hate it when people say that to me. So I'm not going to offer you that advice.
I'll just say again that it may be helpful for you to write a list, even if it's only on scrap paper, with a bulletpoint checklist.
By this I mean, a list similar to the one below...
-Say hi.
-Ring her.
-Etc, etc....
You know?
Also you can try deep breathing before you ring her/meet her or whatever, because it's a stress reliever and will help you to calm down and think with a clearer head.
Hope I helped! _________________ Life is full of weird people - I am not one of them! |
