I believe there are some Brothas and Sistahs here on WP, but do any of you Black folks here actually Live in Africa??
Seems like the only people here who live in Africa are some crackers from South Africa, so if any of you are from elsewhere on the African continent give me a headsup Wink

If black people can't have AS, then what was Steve Urkel? Other than fictional, of course.

You know that the word "cracker" is just as offensive as the n-word, right?

No, actually it isn't. Though insulting to some, there is no oppressive history behind it.

Probably about half the population of the school I work at are black, and it's a school for kids with autism, so there are plenty of low and high-functioning autistics (and some Aspies) who are black there. A few are actually African, but most are African-American.

Isn't the Savant Steven Wiltshire black? Dark? Something like that I think. I remember how he looks like, I've seen him in a documentary, but I'm not entirely sure what colour his skin was and can't imagine where his ancestors are from. Point is, he's autistic and I think he's black and he's super famous! So what that a joke about blacks and people with other skin colours not being possibly autistic? Ouch, I nearly wrote races, because it's like this with all animals and plants and because biology is my major. I know it's not like that with people though!

Hi, I'm not black & do not mind being called "cracker" at all.

I know a black guy who goes to a nearby HS who has Aspergers.
He is African-American and rides his bike wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants.

Gee, I wonder when it became okay to use offensive racial slang terms like 'cracker' on this forum? Are you opening the door? If you do, sooner or later someone will step through it.

Uh, yeah, actually it IS offensive and I don't appreciate it worth a damn. The word 'cracker' is meant in a derogatory fashion and doesn't belong. I have Hispanic and and Native American blood. That doesn't allow me to run around in here calling people 'huedo,' 'gringo' [and some far more worse that most English-speaking whites probably wouldn't recognize if you said it to their face, but I won't say here]. Racially offensive slang toward ANYONE is an ongoing, utterly stupid double-standard that needs to end. Now.

I knew a white kid in highschool who moved to the US with his family from West Africa where his family had lived for at least 15 generations. This kid would call himself African American, since in all fairness, he was. He got all kinds of hell for that. It's weird since he grew up in Africa, where his family had lived for as long as he could trace them back to, but we happen to live at a time where African-American has nothing to do with being African, and is only considered to be a way of describing dark skin.
