We suspect our 10 year old son has Asperger's. He exhibits many of the typical symptoms. We took him to see a pediatric developmental specialist but were not happy with his approach, and strongly disagree with his initial assessment. The guy was not interested in hearing anything about our son's developmental history. He talked to our son for about 5 minutes and then handed down his opinion. We are currently looking for a physician/clinic that specializes in Autistic Spectrum disorders and diagnosis in our area that is willing to talk to us as parents, and is willing to take the time to get to know our son and learn about his history before jumping to a conclusion.

I came across a clinic in the Chicago area called Little Friends Center for Autism. I called them today and it sounds like they offer the services and approach we are looking for. I'm curious if anyone else on WrongPlanet is familiar with Little Friends and could offer us any insights or opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Don't know anything about Little Friends but do know of a man in Naperville- Brian King - he's an Aspie himself and provides services and has a really great website.

I saw him speak at a conference and he was really informative and helpful. Wish I lived in Naperville (or at least a little closer - I'm from Rockford) so my son could get help from him.

Good Luck

Thanks Toboo!

We have received a packet of information and forms that need to be filled out and returned to them. We are working on that now, and have our first appointment scheduled with them in early July.
