There should be allowed a golden mean between advertising one's body (which should be for the bedroom of married husband and wife,) and being dressed in a biohazard suit because some men are dogs.
Between the extremes of going naked and being dressed in that get-up, the get-up is better. But women shouldn't be forced to dress like that. However, between a bikini and a one piece, a one piece is more modest. But women getting raped and murdered because a strand of hair shows is getting towards ludicrousness. Many don't. They instead prefer to listen to the explanations and interpretations of their major religious schools of thought, ahadith, and customs. The Arabs asserted their power and strengths through these forceful measures. Whenever they were lenient the people would just revert back to previous teachings or innovate the religion, until the Caliphs came back and placed them back on the "Straight Path."

There is no question that viewing various degrees of body exposure engenders a whole range of personal reactions in different people with different personal and cultural outlooks. But it seems to me that, whatever that reaction, there should be strict social limits on how extreme that reaction should be permitted. No person should be subject to personal violence whatever the degree of personal exposure. Rape or torture or murder should be unquestionably forbidden and severely punished and the kind of reaction that religious fanatics freely exercise under cover of some archaic social or religious concept is totally unacceptable in a decent society and its exercise far outweighs in unacceptability whatever "crime" is indicated by body exposure of any degree.
Considering the state of the ozone layer over the South Pole, this sort of cozzie might become de rigueur in Australia — simply to escape death from melanoma.
For streetwear, though, I'd ditch the hijab, and go with a nice baseball cap in a matching colour.

I disagree how conservative muslims (as well as conservative jews and christians) view the body as something "sinful" to be covered. However, it is their right to believe what they want as long as they keep it to themselves. _________________ Guns don't kill people. Gunshot wounds kill people.

I concur. The Islamic view is twofold: bodies are inherently sexual, and sex is PRIVATE. The whole idea of not allowing people to show off their bodies is to reduce sexual tension. I think that veils ARE a bit much but Burqas and Hejabs are perfectly reasonable. When I see a muslim women wearing Hejabs I do NOT look upon them as potential sexual partners but as ordinary people. With western young women wearing more revealing clothes I cant get past their bodies-especially if they're physically attractive .

It's just a matter of emotional maturity. Women, wrapped in bags, in western dress, or nude can be considered in many ways. I have no difficulty in ignoring their state of dress and addressing them as fellow humans. Women can indicate sexual signs in almost any state and this is more a matter of body gesture than anything else. At least to me.
