When we get to 808, and 909, we'll have more to rejoice about!

Inspired by this post http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=289 I've decided to carry on since Torley seems to be no longer posting here...

I present to all of you the Roland TR-808 programmable drum machine

Introduced in the early 80's, this was one of the first and most expansive drum machines to hit the music scene. This sucker angered many drummers when it first came out. It never missed a beat, it did require food or pay, and didn't belong to a union. Not even Buddy Rich could out preform this little wonder.

It became a staple in dance, rap/hip-hop, and pop music production. It's long since fallen out of date, but today, it's a sought after item

I have no idea what this thread is about, but I miss seeing Torley around here. His upbeat attitude was refreshing. Does anyone know why he left?

He now lives in Second Life, which is 'virtual world, real dollars' online game.
