What can I say, I have these little things! I really hate all the bells and whistles they come with.... why do you need a mp3 player and a camera on it? It's a PHONE! You use it to talk to people with!
I also hate these things because most of the people who have there in my area talk on them everywhere, like mall, store checkout, or car (which is illegal here). It gets on my nerves.
However I am planning to get one so that I can use it for an emergency (car breakes down, gets lost, involved or witness a accident). I told my family that no one is getting the number and they responded with 'what if there is an emergency and we need to contact you?' I told them that I think the emergency involves the victim, how does calling me help them?
Here is how I look at it. For example lets way 100 miles away my mom gets a heart attack, the first thing that should be done is call 911, get her to a hospital. Wither she is stable or dying it is nice to call me, but it's not going to change her condition, all focus should be made to make sure she is alright. I would give my number to my family to call me in a emergency where someone is in the hospital, but I can't trust them to call only for those situations. If I do give some of my family my number, they are just going to call me with trivial things that are not an emergency. I am not going to pick up the cellphone of those kinds of issues which I KNOW that they will call with even if I tell the only call for an emergency.
Everyone knows that I spend most of my time home, they want me, the call me there, if they get my answering machine, they leave a message.
Last year my brother was in a serious bike accident and was on life support. I found out about it that day by checking my messages and went to the hospital. The person who witnessed the accident used his cellphone to call 911, which to me is what the cellphone is really for.
Anyone else like this? Or how do you look at cellphones. _________________ Humans are intelligent, but that doesn't make them smart. |

I have an old black and white screened cell phone. I barely use it and often forget to charge it's battery.
I don't find cell phones themselves annoying, but I find the people who like to play their music on them outloud so everyone can here it, very obnoxious. I resent whoever decided it was a good idea to invent a cell phone that can play mp3 files.
Also, I don't understand people who buy a cell phone with a camera when they have a seperate digital camera. _________________ The hero is no braver than the ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer

EXACTLY!!!!!!
Why do people have to have all the crap that they think they need? Back when I was growing up, all phones did was ring. All you had to do was answer the phone or you could dial a number and call someone, and that was all. Now you can play video games on your phone (which some people think is perfect for driving). It's ridiculous. _________________ Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.

What is also ridiculous is some games are released exclusively for cellphones like some games made by Squarenix like FFVII Before Crisis, FFVII Dirge of Cerberus sequel, and Parasite Eve the third birthday..... WHY? Are they too cheap to release these for Gamboy advance or something? _________________ Humans are intelligent, but that doesn't make them smart. |

I hate my mobile phone. I've only got one in case my car breaks down and I need rescuing. Nobody ever phones me on it - nobody likes me - I've got no friends .... anyway enough of that.
I dislike how complicated the damn things are. On the one occasion I needed to send a text message it was impossible because a feature had turned itself on which tried to guess what I was typing and it never guessed right so I just ended up with a screen full of gibberish. I had to phone someone to discover a dictionary had turned itself on because I'd let the battery get flat which caused it to reset. Grrr.
I threw away my previous Sagem phone because the buttons kept changing what they did and the menu system was so complicated I could never find anything.
Would you believe I'm a software developer and develop really complex systems but can't fathom a mobile phone |
