Most people who take extensions just are procrastinators, or didn't study enough.
Also, the ability to do something is measured by how long it takes to do it, and correctly. Stop having a flawed definition of it. |
Using most people is a generalization. I think you need some facts to back up your beliefs. I have my own experiences (I'm not a procrastinator), plus I'm in a resource room every day with people who are always working - even at lunch sometimes like me. |

Employers don't care if you have Aspergers. They want the graduate who can do the job the best, which includes how fast they can do it. End of discussion. You make the grade or you don't. |
Includes, that's not the only factor. Creativity and good teamwork are some other factors that don't require speed. |
Exactly. But don't tell some of the CIS majors that 
There is one complaining in a thread right now that his professors expect too much group interaction from him.
Many people who do a CIS degree don't expect to be working around people, so group work comes as a shock to them. Many employers actually look more at social skills now than technical skills (At least, that is what I've heard)! Quite shocking.
As Steve Jobs is rumored to have screamed at a programmer, "I want artists!". Creativity is definitely a factor, and some employers test for that by using logic problems. I heard Microsoft has some very difficult ones.

I think there's teamwork in all jobs. I'm planning on becoming an author or an editor, both of which has a lot of one on one socialization (which I do much better with) and public speaking (which I'm pretty good at...though I will have to figure out a way to do it without cue cards)

I had an accounting for managers exam today and it was easier then the homework that I had wich I rarely did.

Okay, here are more factual facts:
Employers don't care what you have. They want the graduate who can do the job the best, which sometimes includes how fast they can do it. You either learn the material or you don't. The reason you go to school is so you can learn new things, and employers want to know that you are capable of learning their system. Only those who learn the material should make the cut.
I had to rewrite that. There are a lot of jobs out that that care more about how good the job is done than whether it was done fast (ask anyone in the military or government how quickly things get done). And most college tests have little to nothing to do with how fast you can actually work at a job anyway. They test on how you can static recall specific types of random information in short periods of time. (understanding that programming tests are different)
School should never be undertaken simply because you have to have a job afterward. If you don't want the knowledge than you shouldn't be in the class, it is a waste of your time and the professor's time. |
