It depends on whether their egos grow after they gain modship. |
There must be some people out there who don't let getting such a responsible position go to their head, but I suppose it's just human nature.

QM may be right about the ego thing. I remember the last time we have a significant number of mods several of them ended up banned because of all the squabbling.
If there are more mods the power of modship should be reduced to only acting when needed to avoid the increasingly likely power trips. Too many mods means too many different points of view and it becomes more oppressive.
