How many kids diagnosed with pdd-nos anxiety-nos, adhd, and Nonverbal LD?

Seems like a load for an eight-year old.

I'm sick and tired of it all. Why can't my son just exist, label-free.

I feel like if we lived in a remote area somewhere, in a unique schooling environment, he'd be fine.

I can see why kids are homeschooled.

I hear you! Damien's dx is mild autism/asperger's, development delay with significant language delay, and adhd-inattentive.
I kinda like him haivng his label as it means that he gets the support at school he needs. He also has anxiety.
Big hugs to you!!!

I read a really good book on Homeschooling Aspies and the quote that I will never forget is:

"The problem goes away when you quit expecting them to be normal"

It was true of my son who was dx at 9 and pulled out of public school at 9.

Of course, it's not true that Aspergers goes away but when you're out of the environment that constantly reminds you that "he's not fitting in" he's just not getting it" you realize that he is OK and maybe doesn't need all the interventions that the professionals think he needs. At least it's true for my son - he just needed a safe, free place to be himself.

I think it's beautiful that you can homeschool. I have to work full time so it's not an option.

I do think it would be better for my son, but he will gain something from every experience. It's just lots of advocating on my part and it is tiring.

thanks,

equinn
