New Orleans? Most places with complete social disarray as caused by a hurricane would have major problems. LA has been had a drop in crime for about a decade now. |

This is a psychopathic system, created by psychopaths, for psychopaths, hince why psychopathic traits get people ahead in the game. All our governments are ran under big business, those big business families have existed for thousands of years, and they are imbred, like a pedigree poodle, not to have the same emotions as normal people. They are psychopaths in the very essence of the word.
They gave us communism and capitalism, both eugenics systems. Both status/authority worshipping cults.... Their system depends on people like them existing down through every level, and they bleed this psychopathic traits down through society, which they totally condition and control mentally. |

| As long as we are indulging in paranoia we might as well include all the other power systems in human culture such as religion, the Mafia, the military and whatever other hierarchies you might think of. Frankly I have doubts that power systems are quite as rigid as you propose but there is a vein of truth somewhere in there. |

Okay, this statement tells me you don't actually know that much about nature. When animals have enough to eat, they still hunt for the fun of it (think cats). They don't kill for money, as it has no use to them, but animals will kill for material gain (what do you think wolves are doing when they defend their territory?). When it comes to cheating on each other, humans are one of the more monogamous species. Animals do steal just for the fun of it, that's called play. And lots of animals abuse each other, have you ever watched chickens? As animals don't have religions or ideologies that we know of, it's hard to determine if they kill for it, but wild chimpanzee tribes have been seen to commit genocide on other tribes, going out of their way to make sure every member of the other tribe is dead, even the ones who just try to run away and the young breeding females.
Where do people get the idea that nature is all innocence and circle of life, instead of red of tooth and claw? It's something that's always baffled me. |

| One of the virtues of being an adventurous and imaginative human is to explore and fiddle with all that nature offers. We have devised very interesting and powerful ways of playing with natural forces and murdering each other and unfortunately the latter seems not sufficient to hold down the population to a reasonable level. The former, when applied to the desires of the ever burgeoning masses, is very rapidly making the planet uninhabitable to life as we know it since we are now powerful to have major effects on the climate and the layers of the atmosphere that protect and maintain reasonable living conditions. So it is not some form of psychopathology which will probably end the human race within a reasonably short time but rather our diddling with the balance of major planetary forces with no understanding or respect for the consequences. The worldwide hunger and rise of the oceans is just in its early stages and it is pretty horrible. You ain't seen nothin' yet. |

Well, there is always that theory that a big volcano in Yellowstone park is going to erupt on a massive scale and cause the death of at least half of the US population. Seems fanciful to me but then again, it could happen. _________________ Pagans are people too, not just victims of a religious cleansing program. Universal harmony for all!!

It's strange because to me nature appears to be both of those, and neither
I heard some amazing stories where dolphins have been known to protect humans from sharks. Makes no sense if the 'red in tooth and claw' is all there is. I guess that nature is "red in tooth and claw" until we've had a good feed....then we can be all lovey dovey and feel at one with all species. Including the one we just ate!
Back to the original question. Don't statistics imply that human psycopathy is steadily increasing over time? I imagine its some sort of side effect of the discontents of civilisation. Or drastic overpopulation, maybe. _________________ The shoddier the merchandise -- the more it needs promoting |

Certainly, we hear more about the evils in society and it does seem that sociopathic behaviour is rewarded or at least not as severely punished as it should be. For instance, jail terms for terrible crimes such as violent rape and murder and torture are a complete joke in some states. |
I actually do believe we are regressing morally as we progress technologically. There most certainly was crime and atrocities before, but many factors prevented it from being widespread. Now, what inhibits the people? |
We need much more CCTV and surveillance to make sure we don't do bad things. _________________ The shoddier the merchandise -- the more it needs promoting |

Consumerist Corporate Capitalism is a sociopathic system that encourages sociopathic behavior. Individual self-interest is baselessly considered the basis of social interaction a priori and everything follows from there. _________________ My Blog: http://selzshaven.blogspot.com |

Well yeah, even organized crime.... "As above, so below", an old masonic religious saying from the big boys' secret religion, it's also spoken in so-called "alternative" religion in spell craft and so forth....
But street gangs answer to the mafia, who answers to the governments and this massive power structure..... They infiltrate everything... Example here, they give you science, they give you religion. No matter which one you pick, they've already outlined the majority belief in that category so to speak, both science and religion are controlled establishments... The same people who fund police depts. also fund criminal organizations. The same financial interests backing white supremacist also back black and brown supremacists. "As above, so below". It's divide and conquor....
Kinda like if lets say you have a friend, now lets imagine I keep going between you and your friend spreading lies and saying "oh sh**, you shoulda heard what your friend was saying about you", and then I go to him and tell him the same thing.... Pretty much just drumming up drama to keep you at one anothers' throats. |

So what the hell is wrong with the human race? It is things like this which really make me glad the world is going to end in 2012. If people are this terrible, then I say good riddance. The planet should be purged of our presence like the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, and evolution needs to start again with a clean slate and hopefully there will come along some superior sentient species which won't make war, destroy the ozone, or leave elderly people to die on the streets... we had our chance, and we blew it. All the good people need to get into some Noah's Ark type thing and then the rest of the people should be wiped out with a flood or nuclear weapons or something... and then when the dust settles, then the good people can come back and rebuild a better world.
So anyways, why are people like this? Not just one psycho, but entire groups of them.... why? Is this what we are evolving into? Because if so, I don't like it. Gaia needs to abort us before we become the evil self-centered creature we're heading to become... |
I don't see how psychopathy could benefit a species. If anything, rampant psychopathic would strongly encourage the evolution of the more rational people, as they would be most able to avoid the psychos. _________________ "Was that the bad thing?"

I'm sure evolution takes a lot longer than a few thousand years to have an effect. As genetic mutation is random, we then have to wait a while to see if the mutation is beneficial or not. Whether it takes decades or thousands of years before we wipe ourselves out, is irrelevant.
Being flightless didn't benefit the Dodo at all, but they managed to survive for a long while as they had no predators in their environment. Then along came the hunters with guns.....
Maybe psycopathic tendancies have been an advantage for the past few thousand years - some of those ancient rulers seem like psycopaths to me! The problem would occur when some change in the environment occurs and the psycopath cannot adapt. Resources running out through purely thinking in terms of short term gain and never mind the cost?
I hope you're right that this is happening to drive the evolution and eventual dominance of the rational people _________________ The shoddier the merchandise -- the more it needs promoting |
