Where did you get them from though? |
i got jumped by a homeless guy in an alley. he sliced my arm with a broken bottle before i knocked him out. damn crackheads, i had to go on an antibiotic IV for two weeks. | Why don't you just say that? That's pretty cool that you beat him up (though I didn't know Ottawa had people like that) _________________ "You can do the math a thousand way, but you can't undo the past"

I know it must be scary, but they wouldn't be lying to you that it's going to heal. It'll just take some time
Until then, get some awesome long shirts |
or just go around with your shirt off and tell them you were in a knife fight |
Heh, that's what my brother said this evening!
And *hugs back to ebec11* Thank you, you're the only one who understands me. ^_^ |

Hey folks...I've taken some time to think, and I can see all of your points.
As part of a process to making myself feel better, yesterday I decided to treat myself nice and get a haircut, buy some new clothes, and go to a movie. At the end of the evening, I reached an epiphany I think you all can be proud of...
And that is, I'm NOT gonna mope about this anymore. I shouldn't see my gash as an uglifier to my body, but rather, a testament that I survived something that could've KILLED me! That's right...if I'd waited one more day to go to the hospital the second time, I could've gotten peritonitis and even sepsis shock on TOP of having a perforated bowel! (And I have had sepsis shock before, way back in 2004) It was Mom's gut instinct to send me to the hospital when I complained of a fever and stomach pains.
Heh, what I find so amusing about all this, is that I myself, don't care about a person's scars; it's what's on the inside that matters. So why can't I accept that people can accept ME despite my flaws? Well, no more; I've changed.
*lifts my shirt up halfway, showing my gash*
Love me or loathe me, this is my imperfection, but I'm still the same Usagi that I was when I joined 5 months ago. I have beauty in me; I have a sense of humor, and I have a caring heart.
*tucks shirt back in* Thank you for listening. |

I have scars along my jaw.
3rd degree burns, skin-grafted skin over it, with an earlobe partially melted to my face, burns on arms, pectorals and stomach, as well as thigh and shin.
You're far from ugly, Usagi. |

Just know that we here won't judge you - we can't even see the scar here, and I don't think any of us would judge you even if we could (except for a troll or two) _________________ "You can do the math a thousand way, but you can't undo the past"

My husband works underground in a coal mine. He has sustained cuts, scrapes, bruises and broken bones. There are places on his skin where coal dust has gotten into a cut and made a permanent blue-black mark. He has had several basal-cell and squamous-cell carcinomas (i.e. "sun cancers") cut away from various parts of him. He has had an appendicectomy and two hernia repairs. He's had more stitches put into him than a tailored shirt.
Both my sons were born via caesarian section. I have scars from two separate cycling accidents. I've had knee surgery that's left me with an 8 cm scar and two bumps where the heads of the surgical-steel pins holding the bone graft together come to the surface. I've had skin lesions removed. I have a scar on my hand from a machine-shop accident, and a few marks from various childhood mishaps.
Somehow the two of us manage to stand the sight of each other, Usagi. You'll be okay. |

As the fact that I work in a hospital and have had "battle scars" recovery takes time.
I wish you the best. _________________ Do what you can when you can. I'm also the "alien"they are looking for. |

Battle scars are hot - even if they're battles with your own tricky body

That's a good point; bodies are funny...you never know when they're gonna konk out on you.
If mine was a car, I'd be an insurance write-off. |
